Happy 4th Blogiversary, The Academic Wino!

June 8th, 2011, The Academic Wino was born!  It’s hard to imagine we’re at the 4 year anniversary of the launching of this blog, but alas, here we are!

I just wanted to thank each and every one of my readers out there.  You have all been so amazing and have contributed so much to the discussion of wine research be it through your comments, your Facebook messages, or your Tweets.

Some quick social media stats:

• 1 Year Blogiversary: About 1000 Twitter followers, and unsure of the number of Facebook “likes”.
• 2 Year Blogiversary: 2,738 Twitter followers and 488 “likes” on Facebook.
• 3 Year Blogiversary: 5,556 Twitter followers and 1304 Facebook “likes”.
• 4 Year Blogiversary: 9,767 Twitter followers and 1742 Facebook “likes”.

It’s been an amazing four years in which I’ve been able to grow and develop not only my blog, but myself as a writer.

During the past year, I’ve attended the Wine Writer’s Symposium on a scholarship and also secured an Assistant Editor position at Wine Industry Insight NewsFetch with Lewis Perdue and also a Science Editor position with SOMM Journal.  I am eternally grateful for these honors and I promise to provide the same if not better content going forward.

On a personal level, since last year I’ve gotten married, gone on an unforgettable honeymoon to Belize, moved from Virginia to Colorado, and purchased our very first home together.  Actually, all of those things happened just within a span of a short few months, but we still survived!

I’m looking forward to what this next year has to offer!
