Open Call for Guest Writers in January-February

First of all, for those of you in the US or celebrating somewhere abroad, Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are in a place to be able to celebrate with friends and loved ones all that you are thankful for.  As for me, I have 3 of my sisters in town, plus one brother-in-la, my 3.5 year old niece, and two of my doggy nieces/nephews. The house is full of love and laughter, and all is very very good!

I thought now was as good a time as any to put out an open all for guest writers/bloggers for pieces to be published in January and February of 2016.  Why, you ask?

Well, I’m very happy to announce that my husband and I are expecting our first child in mid-January and likely will not have posting on the blog very high on our priority list!  I would like to keep content coming on the blog, so for the first few weeks of my baby’s new life, it’d be nice to have some guest

contributors.  Not only will it give me a chance to spend some quality time with my new baby, but it will also give your work some exposure and possibly gain new readership on your own blog.

Guest Post Requirements

Any guest posts must be related to wine, and must have some sort of academic focus.  I realize this is very vague, but I’m looking for some variety so I didn’t want to restrict the topics!  I do also accept more “artistic” pieces that would fall under the “Fine Arts” discipline of academia.

You are not at all required to follow the rubric that you see on most of my posts, but the post still must be written on facts and well researched.

I will not accept any posts that are wine or winery reviews.  If you’d like to be a guest writer for The Academic Wino, please feel free to email me ASAP with your topic ideas!

In terms of length, I’m looking for something at least 500 words but no more than 1500 words. In terms of links, I have a relatively strict advertising policy, so I will not include links to any businesses or anything of that nature.  I’m happy to link to your personal blogs or online CVs.  If you have a question about a particular link you’d like to include, please ask and I’ll let you know which category it falls into! I’m

somewhat flexible with this, so don’t be immediately turned off if you’re uncertain about a particular link!

Please email me at becca@academicwino.com if you are interested in contributing!

I’m really looking forward to expanding the blog to include guests from other writers and bloggers!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Cheers!
